Is the American Dream true

I do believe there is more opportunity in America than most other countries. If one is willing to work hard they can become wealthy. However there is an advantage if you have wealthy parents, or have connections with people in high places. Some people that are born blind or with down syndrome are at a disadvantage to no falt of their own. Genetics also plays a role in one's potential success.

racism 60s vs 00s

The two events were similar in many ways. In both cases discrimination was used in a high school setting. In the Central High School incident there seemed to be a larger protest with the feds more involved. The lives of the nine black kids were in danger of the white mob. The nooses in the newer story seemed wrong, to me it seemed to be to harsh to be a joke. It puts a fearful memory in many people.

Holocaust survivor videos

I felt bad when One of the Ladies said she did chores in hope of finding her parents. She never did. I would have been devastated if this happened to me. It also seemed strange how Hitlers speeches were broadcast and Jews had to get out of the country. It must have been tough to leave your home for a strange new nation.

It is a Russian officer belt it shows how Russia fighting caused Germany to fight the war on two fronts which made it easier for the US and England to defeat Germany. Because Russia won the war this a victorious show and tell item. It can also be explained how the cold war began. The horrors soldiers saw when they found concentration camps. It must have felt good to win the war.

Vs!

This is meant as a poster for the fight between Baer and Braddock

Risk of Genocide

It seems currently many African peoples are at risk of genocide. We should try to avoid this. If we let a people be completely killed off their culture will become dead. The world may loose something special. Also how would anyone feel if their culture was being put through genocide. In many ways we are also all the same.

Genocide should be taught

The rape of Nanjing and massacre of Native Americans should definitely be taught so that history will not repeat itself. The rape of Nanjing was to brutal and large of an act to go unnoticed its effect on history at the world stage rivals the holocaust. It shows all around the world genocide has been done. It brings into question why in the broad sense do people commit these acts. People deserve to know the truth.

weekly article 4

Sacco and Venzetti are being tried for meurder and armed robbery they are also suspected anarchists, the CSI must prosecute them if they are guilty of these crimes, however me must make sure we have the right guys. It seems as though some of the witnesses think they saw sacco, there were not positive. It looks as if the bullet was in fact not fired from sacco. A cap was found on the crime seem it looks like it’s Sacco’s. The prosecution said there was a buick founds that may have been used in the robbery. Sacco said he was not in Boston but later testified that he was. The witnesses don’t seem convinced Vanzetti was at the crime scene. Witnesses had trouble describing the man in the car one thought it was a light haired man and Venzetti has dark hair. The trial has a great many moral issues, the evidence is not clear either way, we must make a decision but it it quite difficult for us to dissifer. This is a date that will truly live in infamy. There is some much talk of anarchism they are Italians afterall. The anarchist movment must not spread. If it does it could be like a wild fire, Should I set an example, this isn’t CSI Miami this is as real as it gets. I’m I a racist for having theses thoughts. Maybe some one will save me and afterall the case is huge and all. It seems as if judge Katzman wants them arrested he pushes their anarchist beliefs on the jury. I believe it was themk both of them have lied repetedly I do not tolerate lying at all. HE sworn the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. There seems to be a lot of excuses. On the other side none seems to be definite. Death seems harsh. I couldn’t be more uncertain. Lets keep on trucking throught the epic case of epic proportions must have an end. The evidence seems against them this is a trial for the ages. I declare them guilty!

Concept guide

US passed prohibition and it was disastrous. Gangs gained more power. people drank more. lifestyle changed. It had the opposite of the intended effect. Depression followed. Old Americans were angry.

acrostic poem

Police reinforced laws
Rebels continued drinking
Outlaws were common
Home breweries were common
It pissed people off
Big cheeses ruled business
Illegalization caused anger
There was a lot of crime
It was a transitional time
Out laws made money off of alcohol
Not many conformed

Roaring twenties
Oh Applesauce
Apologies were not needed
Right and wrong changed
It made old Americans uncomfortable
Not many hermits in those days
Gams were showing
The women went out
When it ended there was a depression
Even back then women smoked
No one predicted the great depression
Top dog was called the big cheese
It made people change their lifestyle
Every one was affected
Some might say it happened again in the 60s

what I learned from organized crime present

I didn't realize how much power the gangs had during the prohibition era. I also did't know how much power they had in politics. It was impressive seeing the complex crimes people commited. I also found it interesting how wealthy gang leaders were. It showed a huge negative effect of prohibition. I also learned how bad the FBI was.
